Computers Gifted to Tenants - Crosskeys homes

Organisation's tagline

Computers Gifted to Tenants

Cross Keys Homes has donated six surplus computers to tenants who have been committed to finding employment over the last 12 months and to those tenants that play a vital role within their community.

The computers will assist the tenants in many different ways.  For those seeking employment through the Cross Keys Working 4 U employment support programme, it is anticipated that the computers will launch them further into the job arena and closer to finding employment.

One particular Cross Keys Homes’ tenant who received a computer, Sandra Bento, said:  “I am so happy, I can’t afford to buy one but I really need the internet to apply for jobs.  I have been looking for a job for the whole year and had to keep going to the job centre all the time, now I can apply direct.  My children too are very excited.  They will be able to do their homework but I suspect the reality will be a lot of facebook too.”

Joan Tibbs, head of neighbourhoods and communities, said: “This forms part of our Cross Keys Homes’ digital inclusion strategy which we hope to roll out further in the months to come.   If we can put old computers to good use and help our tenants then we are making progress in the right direction.”

Cross Keys Homes IT staff helped the tenants set up and offered advice around sources for cheap broadband access.

Further computers will be available in coming months, if you are a Cross Keys Homes tenant and would like to find out more about how you could benefit from one of these computers or require information regarding future IT courses please contact Tracey Croucher on 01733 396441
