Christmas light switch-ons
November 12, 2009
RESIDENTS are being invited to get into the festive mood with three special Christmas light switch-on events.
Peterborough’s biggest landlord Cross Keys Homes has organised three mini festive light switch-on events for families living in Dogsthorpe, Westwood and Stanground.
The charitable housing association has teamed-up with Lite FM who will be doing a live broadcast from each of the events.
There will also be special appearances from Santa, a character from the Key Theatre’s Christmas pantomime and Peterborough Phantoms’ ice hockey players at each of the events.
The first event will take place at Central Avenue in Dogsthorpe on Monday, November 16, at 3.30pm, where a large number of lights will be displayed above the 12 shops at the parade.
Mick Leggett, chief executive of Cross Keys Homes said: “The aim of the events is to offer families the chance to join in the festive fun and engage with us in an informal environment close to their homes.”
Hayley Roan, acting communications and marketing manager, added: “We hope many people will turn up to enjoy all three of our switch-ons which promise to be great fun.”
The second event will be at Hampton Court’s shopping parade in Westwood, on Wednesday, November 18, at 3.30pm, where a number of lights will be lit-up on the lamp posts down the parade.
The third event will be held at The Parade, Lawson Avenue, Stanground, on Friday, November 20, at 3.30pm. This will feature many lights being displayed above the shops down the parade.
Hayley Roan added: “Christmas is a special time of year for bringing people closer together and I am pleased that we are able to bring a bit of festive cheer closer to residents’ homes.
“We also hope to use the events as an opportunity for us to engage with our residents.”
