Your rent
From April 6, the average rent increase for 2009 will rise by £3.82 a week. As promised in the offer document before the housing transfer Cross Keys Homes' rents will increase in line with a Government formula.
This formula uses the September
2008 rate of inflation of 5% plus adjustments for the number of bedrooms, the property value and average local incomes, to arrive at a 'target' rent for each property. Most of our rents are currently below target and we have to ensure that rents increase at a steady rate to hit target by 2012.
Below is a table which shows the average rent across Peterborough by the number of bedrooms and the percentage average increase.
| Bedrooms | Rent | Increase |
| bedsit | £54.87 | 5.87% |
| 1 | £62.80 | 6.08% |
| 2 | £73.47 | 5.65% |
| 3 | £77.99 | 6.21% |
| 4 | £82.61 | 7.01% |
| 5 | £83.80 | 7.81% |
| 6 | £94.81 | 7.43% |
The above table does not include increases to any extra charges you may pay such as Lifeline or for a caretaker service. All tenants should have received a personal rent increase statement in March.
