We have a wide range of opportunities with for six months paid work experience as part of the government’s KickStart scheme. You’ll also receive full on-the-job training as well as help and support with literacy, numeracy, computer skills, work etiquette and finding a job at the end of your placement.

Community Adviser:

You’ll work face to face with our customers to get to the heart of the issues they are facing , and provide practical advice and support to help them to solve their problems. This could include helping them to fill in forms, compare their energy prices to get a better deal or signpost them to other sources of support. You’ll be on the front line, representing CKH to the public, and you’ll gain amazing customer service, communication and organisational skills.

Positions available at our Community Hubs in Westwood, Welland and South Bretton.

Gardener:

You’ll work alongside the Garden Project Co-ordinator to improves communal gardens at a number of housing schemes across Peterborough. You’ll assist with planting, pruning, implementing new garden features with an overall view to creating a vibrant, colourful and well maintained safe garden for residents to enjoy. Not only will you gain great practical skills, you’ll also learn how to work as part of a team and organise your working schedule.

Maintenance Operative:

You’ll work with the Estates team to provide a range of maintenance and gardening services. No two days will be the same, and you’ll be hands on with all manner of practical jobs such as repairing door locks, litter picking, garden maintenance and decorating. Not only will you gain great practical skills, you’ll also learn how to work as part of a team, communicate effectively and organise your working schedule.

Repairs Assistant:

You’ll work with the Repairs team to provide support with general administrative tasks, as well as undertaking post repair phone calls to customers and assisting with the reporting of repairs to communal areas. You’ll be on the front line, representing CKH to the public, and you’ll gain amazing customer service, communication and organisational skills.

This role will be home based with some visits to other sites.

Mobile Cleaner:

You’ll support and assist our mobile cleaning team to effectively deliver block cleaning services across various locations in Peterborough. Not only will you gain great practical skills, you’ll also learn how to work as part of a team, communicate effectively and organise your working schedule.

Customer Engagement Adviser:

You’ll work with the Strategic Housing Delivery Team to support digital engagement with customers. You’ll gather and respond to customer communications through our website, email and text, as well as inputting data on customer accounts and spreadsheets. You’ll also be responsible for collating information for other colleagues to use in key partnership meetings. You’ll be on the front line, representing CKH to the public, and you’ll gain amazing customer service, communication and organisational skills.

This role will be home based or based at one of our Community Hubs.

Kitchen Porter:

You’ll work as a member of a busy cafe establishment carrying out duties such as food and drink preparation, providing customer service, clearing and cleaning tables and the kitchen and meal planning. Not only will you gain great practical and customer service skills, you’ll also learn how to work as part of a team, communicate effectively and organise your working schedule.

This role will be based at the WestRaven Community Cafe in Westwood.

Estate Ranger:

You’ll work with the Estate Rangers to provide a range of fly tipping support, cleaning of blocks and general maintenance. This is a great role, for anyone who wants hands on, outdoor work, and enjoys being active. Not only will you gain great practical skills, you’ll also learn how to work as part of a team, communicate effectively and organise your working schedule.

Care Cleaner:

You’ll work with our Care team to provide a high quality cleaning service in the communal areas and in customers’ homes. Not only will you be cleaning to a high standard, but you’ll also need to actively listen and take account of views, decisions and choices of customers in a manner that takes into consideration their differences. Not only will you gain great practical and customer service skills, you’ll also learn how to work as part of a team, communicate effectively and organise your working schedule.

Roles available at Kingfisher Court in Stanground and Lapwing Apartments in Orton Brimbles.

You will need to be able to get to your agreed place of work. We will organise any additional transport needed during your working day.
