We are proud to have retained our Green Award accreditation from Investors in the Environment (iiE) for the seventh consecutive year.

As the region’s largest provider of social and affordable housing and care, we recognise our responsibility to the environment and the people in our communities and have set testing targets in order to reduce our carbon footprint and protect the planet for future generations. Thus, we have been accredited to iiE since 2011, achieving its highest level Green Award accreditation for the first time in 2014.

We have adopted the ‘One Planet Framework’ for our environmental strategy, which allows us to reduce our external impact and ensure the continual improvement of our performance.

Among our environmental achievements, we have completed the largest social housing PV panel installation project in the country – installing panels on over 5,400 homes. We have supported the creation of the Westwood Community Garden as part of our role as locally trusted organisation for the WestRaven Big Local community regeneration scheme, and our Estate Ranger team are keen recyclers using previously dumped materials to provide community garden areas in our neighbourhoods. Plus, since 2008 we have reduced the carbon footprint of our head office by around 50%, with a combination of building improvements, employee engagement in energy saving campaigns and the installation of solar panels.
