Benefit and pension changes to Post Office accounts

The deadline for these changes has been extended until November 2022. You should still plan to change your account as soon as you can.

Changes are coming that mean you will not be able to receive benefits and pension payments to a Post Office card account from November 2022. You will still be able to visit the Post Office to withdraw cash and pay your rent, but your payments will need to be made to a different bank, building society or credit union account. The Post Office have some  handy FAQs about what to do to move your payment on their website.

Changing your account

The DWP is writing to all Post Office card account customers about the change. There should be a form included with their letter that you can use to let them know which account you would like to receive payments to in the future. You can also call the DWP on 0800 085 7133, 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday to share your account details or ask them any questions you have about what to do next.
