Rosie Loveridge – Care worker apprentice

“I believe my apprenticeship has helped me to grow as a person.”

I’ve been a pre-apprentice Care Worker with Cross Keys Homes for nearly a year now, working at Lapwing Apartments Extra Care Scheme. Deciding to take the step into health and social care has been what I needed to develop my skills, not only in care but in general.

Even though I have only been working with the team at Lapwing Apartments for a short period of time, I feel like I have come along way. I’ve put in a lot of hard work and commitment and my colleagues have really noticed just how much I have developed – it’s really great when they share a compliment about how far I’ve come. I now feel confident when working alongside and dealing with residents, liaising within the team and working with third-party organisations such as NHS, GP’s & chiropodists. Also, my leadership skills have really come on a long way since I started my apprenticeship and I am still learning and developing each day. I believe my apprenticeship has help me to grow as a person and I now feel more competent in my role and know that I have the skills to deal with difficult situations myself.

When I complete my apprenticeship, I will have achieved my level 2 in both English and Maths as well as a diploma in health and social care. I’m looking forward to progressing my career in this sector and hopefully work towards being a paramedic in the future.
