New affordable homes provided for Huntingdonshire District Council

News story published 22 August 2017.

FOURTEEN new affordable homes have been provided in the picturesque village of Fenstanton, just a fifteen minute drive away from Cambridge.

We are continuing to invest in Huntingdonshire providing much needed affordable homes, to help those who are being priced out of the housing market.

The section 106 site, known as Orchard Gardens provides a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes, four of which are shared ownership homes alongside ten affordable rented homes.

Cross Keys Homes’ Executive Director of Development, Sarah Ireland, said: “This has been a fantastic scheme which has helped many local people to find a place to call home at a price they can realistically afford.”

Councillor Ryan Fuller, Huntingdonshire District Council’s Executive Member for Housing and Planning, added: “The delivery of affordable housing continues to be a high priority for the District Council, and the Council is delighted to be continuing to work in partnership with Cross Keys Homes to deliver much needed affordable housing for local people across the District, including this site in Fenstanton.”

Simon McDonald, Managing Director at Charles Church East Midlands, added: “We were delighted to work alongside Cross Keys Homes to provide these much-needed affordable homes.

“The Orchard was another extremely successful development and dozens of people are now enjoying their new homes.

“As a company we are absolutely committed to supporting the communities in which we build. That includes a percentage of affordable housing at every development, as well as huge financial contributions towards things like education and highways through Section 106 agreements.”

The affordable homes have been built alongside 20 outright sale properties.

This development is part of our ambitious development programme to build over 2,000 new affordable homes by 2021.
