We're building twenty new affordable homes on a former brownfield site in Spalding in partnership with South Holland District Council and Minster Property Group.
The Willow Walk development off Commercial Road, formerly known as Law’s Yard, will provide a mix of one, two and three bedroom houses. Work on the site will commence this month, with the homes likely to be complete by June 2020.
With the backing of South Holland District Council, we've secured a grant of £870,000 from Homes England to support the development.
Five of the properties will be available for shared ownership, offering a chance for households to get onto the property ladder by buying between a 25 and 75 per cent share of their home and paying rent on the remaining share. The remaining properties will be available to rent and will be allocated to those on the district council’s Housing Register.
Cllr Christine Lawton, Portfolio holder for Housing at South Holland District Council, said: “This new development will play a useful part in helping to meet local housing requirements. South Holland District Council continues to be committed to ensuring homes are available to those who are most in need, and we welcome this renewed partnership with Cross Keys Homes to help us meet that aim.”
It is more than five years since CKH was last involved in a development in South Holland having previously built homes in Crowland and Donington.
Chief Executive of Cross Keys Homes, Claire Higgins, said: “For us, the goal is to deliver the affordable homes that people need in the places they want to live. We’re seeking more and more land-driven opportunities like this where were can maximise the number of affordable homes we’re building to really tackle the shortage of appropriate homes available.
“It’s great to be renewing our partnership to deliver these homes in South Holland and we’ll be working with a fantastic local contractor, Burmor Construction, who have delivered excellent results for us elsewhere in the region.”
Previous plans for the site were set to deliver just two of the 20 homes as affordable housing, however working with Minster Property Group we managed to acquire it with plans to deliver the whole site as new affordable homes.
The shared ownership homes will be marketed for sale within the next few months, learn more about shared ownership or talk to our Sales and Marketing Team for details 01733 396406 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
