How to pay your rent
We've created a number of ways for you to pay your rent. Just choose which method suits you best from the list below.
The easiest way to pay your rent is by Direct Debit. Once we've set you up, weekly or monthly payments will automatically come out of your bank account. It's less hassle for you and you can rest assured that your rent will be paid on time. To set up a Direct Debit, download and complete the form or call us on 01733 385000. If there are any changes to the amount collected, we'll give you 10 working days' notice.
You can pay your rent easily online using our secure AllPay website. You'll need to register online before making your first payment.
The allpay payment app
Download the allpay app for free onto your Apple, Android or Windows smartphone and pay your rent using a debit or credit card. It's quick and easy to use – just follow the on-screen instructions. For more information on how to use the app, download the 'Allpay App - How it works' leaflet.
Over the phone
You can call our 24/7 automated freephone service on 0330 088 3786 and pay your rent with a debit or credit card. You don't even need to talk to anyone – just have your payment reference number and debit or credit card to hand.
You can now pay your rent by text any time of day, seven days a week. First, you'll need to register online at www.allpayments.net/textpay and have your payment reference number and debit or credit card to hand.
Then each time you want to make a payment, simply text ‘pay’ plus the text code you set up during registration, along with the amount you want to pay and your password to 81025.
Pop along with your rent payment card and pay in person at:
- Anywhere you see a PayPoint logo find your nearest PayPoint location
- Any post office
- Any Cross Keys Homes’ office paying by cash or card
Housing Benefit or Universal Credit
If you're entitled to either Housing Benefit or the housing cost element of Universal Credit, it's your responsibility to make sure your rent is paid on time. Please let us know if you need any help filling in forms so that your application can be assessed without delay.

Keeping on track
When you make a payment, using any of these options, you'll be given a receipt or reference number. You should keep this safe as proof of payment, and check your transaction is shown on your rent statement.
Please be aware:
If you're in rent arrears with no payment plan in place, or you're in breach of your plan, we'll only be able to carry out emergency repairs to your home. Any non-emergency repairs will be restricted. If you're affected by this, and our Repairs Centre is unable to action your repair because of your arrears, you should contact us on 01733 396483.
If you're struggling to pay your rent, you should let us know as soon as possible so that we can help you.
If you don't pay your rent, or speak to us about your rent, we follow a strict escalation path that ends up in court. If it gets this far, then court costs of £325 are usually awarded against you and added to your rent account. This can be avoided by following a budget plan and making sure you're getting the benefits you're entitled to.
