CKH pre-apprenticeship scheme
Our pre-apprenticeship programme has helped more than 100 young people into work. The programme gives young people the chance to get real life, practical experience in the workplace – while getting paid for it.
Participants are offered a placement designed to provide valuable skills, opportunities and experience in the workplace. This gives them the chance to up-skill, develop, and work as a team. The programme also offers help with CV writing, completing application forms and preparing for job interviews.
It has a lasting impact for the participants, opening doors for them and transforming their future, like Lucy’s:
The programme offers six months paid work experience and intensive support to help you adjust to the world of work. Throughout your placement, you'll take part in regular job clubs, which will help with the job search and application process, and improve your confidence.
You'll learn how to craft the perfect CV and how to look for work. You'll get support with your applications and you'll also receive that all-important reference to support future job applications.
Sara became pregnant at a young age and left school in year 10. With no qualifications or confidence, she struggled to find work. When her daughter started school, Sara joined our arrears team as a pre-apprentice and went from strength to strength. She has grown in confidence, upskilled in maths and literacy and gained a first aid qualification. She impressed staff so much with her dedication to her job that she's been able to move into a full apprenticeship and work full time. “It’s just fantastic to be in work, to have a direction to my life and to be a good role model for my daughter as she grows up," says Sara.
