Cllr Sam Smith
Sam Smith qualified as an accountant in 2002, and more recently worked at News UK for eight years until December 2016 where she was Head of Finance for Shared Costs. Sam was elected to represent Ravensthorpe Ward, for the second time in 2016, on behalf of Peterborough City Council. She currently holds the portfolio for Children’s Services, and during her previous term on the Council was Cabinet Member for Environment Capital.
Sam was born in Peterborough, and grew up in Deeping. Joining Deeping Swimming Club at the age of four, she’s never left and is still an active part of the Committee. She is also a qualified swimming teacher/coach and still tries to find time to train and compete.
Being keen to “do her bit” for the environment and her community, Sam is a PECT Company member, an active member of the WestRaven Big Local Board, and chairs Longthorpe and Netherton Residents Association.
