Creating communities

We continued to build quality, affordable homes and invest in services that help our communities flourish.

Creating communities

We are more than just a landlord. We want to build communities in which everyone is able to live safely, happily and achieve their true potential.

We continue to be the area’s leading provider of independent living solutions for older people, from our LifeLine emergency alarm service, retirement  housing, community care and extra care communities.

We believe that we have to play our part in tackling the housing crisis that is still impacting the UK today, which is why we invest in building new affordable homes for rent and shared ownership. Last year, we completed building 610 new homes in Peterborough or communities within a one hour’s drive of Peterborough.

This number includes the first phase of Indigo, our largest development to date, located in the heart of Peterborough. In total Indigo will provide 315 affordable homes and two retail units, helping to redefine city centre living in Peterborough.

Keeping our communities safe

Rosette design theat says you said.. we did!!We also want to make sure that everyone who lives in our communities does so without fear of others. We have listened to the feedback from our residents on the way we deal with incidents of anti-social behaviour (ASB) and you have told us you want more support from us. We have taken this feedback on board and we have expanded our ASB team to help tackle even more cases.

We are now able to offer support in neighbour disputes, when you are subjected to unreasonable noise nuisance and situations where you believe drug taking maybe happening, such as the persistent smell of cannabis. We know these incidents can affect residents greatly, and lead to you feeling unsafe and unsettled in your own home. Remember you should always contact the police if you believe criminal activity is taking place.

In 2024-25, we opened 175 anti-social behaviour cases which equates to 13.3 cases per 1,000 homes, two of these involved hate incidents.

What our engaged residents say

"We all know the big negative impact that anti-social behaviour can have on  people’s lives, so we are really pleased to see that CKH have listened to  feedback from residents and expanded their service to support even more people.

75% are satisfied with our approach to handling anti-social behaviour (ASB)

"Hopefully the expanded service will help people feel more supported and  show that positive steps are being taken. As engaged residents we will be taking a keen interest in the feedback from residents and see if further lessons can be learnt." — Jill

Supporting you

There are lots of different ways we are here to help you, from helping you to find support for mental health to getting your rent account back on track.

During the year, we provided 2,100 information, advice or guidance sessions, supported 112 people into employment and made referrals for 306 training courses, some of which were funded by CKH where funding was a barrier.

Being able to manage your tenancy and look after your home is very important and not everyone has the skills to do that independently when they first move in. We have a specialist Tenancy Sustainment team who work with people who need a little extra support to make sure they are able to manage their tenancy.

In 2024-25, we worked with 493 residents. We closed 258 cases with 236 or 91% achieving successful results for the resident. This work has been valued by our residents achieving 4.6 customer satisfaction out of 5.

TSM - How you scored us: • 91% of residents are satisfied that we keep them informed about things that matter to them • 80% of residents are satisfied that we make a positive contribution to the neighbourhood

Inspiring the next generation

One of the corner stones of our community investment strategy is inspiring the next generation – giving extra support to young people to give them the best  possible start in life.

This year, we once again supported 80 young people from eight schools around Peterborough to take part in the Tall Ships voyage where they spend a week crewing sailing boats, working together as a crew to grow their confidence and communication skills.

Our Park Rangers work experience programme, delivered in partnership with Nene Park and Froglife, is a great opportunity for young people to try something new and think about how they can grow a career in the great outdoors. We also now have a programme of employment support just for young people and work closely with the Job Centre and other agencies to make sure we are getting our support to the right people.
