Nene Park Ranger experience
Do you enjoy spending time outdoors in nature or have a passion for horticulture? Perhaps you feel a bit low on confidence and are looking to enhance your communication skills?
Step into the boots of a Park Ranger and Reserve Warden and gain hands-on experience in:
- Gardening and landscape maintenance
- Environmental and conservation activities
- Habitat and wildlife protection
- Community-based outdoor projects
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Understanding careers within environmental and outdoor sectors
- Developing confidence, responsibility and transferable employability skills
The course will run for seven week across a number of different sites in Peterborough, working with the WestRaven Community Garden, Nene Park Trust and Froglife. We can support you with travel costs if you need it and all safety equipment will be provided.
Every Tuesday from 3 November, between 10am and 12.30pm. You will need to attend every session to pass.
You must be aged between 18 and 24 years old and not currently in education, employment and training.
RISE Employability Youth Course
Our two week RISE course will support you to grow the skills and confidence you need to get into work. Specifically aimed at 18-26 year olds, the course will prepare you for today's modern workplace through practical learning, real-world experiences and personalised support.

Progress - Create a clear plan, take your next steps and move forward with purpose.
The programme covers a wide range of employability topics, including:
- Personal branding and digital confidence
- Social media and online job searching
- CV development and video CV creation
- Interview preparation and mock interviews
- AI tools and modern job search techniques
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Employer insight sessions and guest speakers
- Goal setting and future planning
- Financial awareness and independence
- Interactive group activities and problem solving

If you are aged 18-24 and looking for work, apprenticeships or training you cannot afford to miss Opportunity 2026 Employment Expo - our brand new jobs fair just for young people.

This exciting and interactive employment expo brings together employers, training providers and recruitment agencies from a wide range of industries, giving you the opportunity to explore career pathways, ask questions and discover opportunities you may never have considered.
Throughout the day, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Meet employers from a variety of sectors and learn about current vacancies, apprenticeships and future career opportunities.
- Speak directly with recruitment agencies and discover how they can support you in finding employment.
- Explore training providers offering courses, qualifications and skills development to help you achieve your career goals.
- Receive practical careers advice and guidance to help you make informed decisions about your future.
- Build your confidence by speaking directly with organisations, asking questions and making valuable first impressions.
- Leave with new ideas, useful contacts and a clearer understanding of the opportunities available to you.
