Good governance

Two sets of semi detached homes, one is stone clad, the other in brick

When we talk about 'governance' we mean everything we do to make sure we know how we are performing and that our services are being delivered properly.

Good Governance

As a responsible landlord, we make sure:

  • Our services are well run
  • We always aim to provide value for money
  • We know how we are performing.

Our Board, with two resident representatives, help keep us on track.

All housing associations are overseen by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) and every four years they come in and conduct a Regulatory Inspection. They look at the way we are run, the records we keep, how we monitor health and safety as well as the information we share with residents, and much more. They also look at how we are performing against their financial and consumer standards.

We had our inspection in January 2025 and we are really pleased that we maintained our G1 rating  for governance, were upgraded to V1 for financial viability, and have been awarded C1 for compliance with the consumer standards – the first time we have been  assessed against this standard. These are the highest standards we can achieve, although we know, as always, there is room for improvement,  and we will be working through the recommendations we received from the RSH with our engaged residents.

I have been a tenant for over 20 years, and am so grateful that 20 years ago you gave me a house, that has become a home. We love our home Thank you

How we spend every pound

Thank you for paying your rent and service charges on time. Most CKH residents keep their rent accounts in credit by at least one payment. We use the money you pay in rent to deliver the essential services you need. We also borrow money from the bank so we can build new affordable homes in the communities where they are needed most.

These accounts are currently unaudited. You can find more information about our financial performance and how we deliver value for money in our Financial Accounts which will be available on our website from September.

Our directors’ pay

Our highest paid director earned £18 for every home we manage (£19 last year) and over the year all our directors together earned £109 for every home we manage (£132 last year).
