New youth employment hub for Peterborough
We are excited to be working with Peterborough United Foundation on the development of the new Youth Employment Hub for Peterborough.
The hub is being launched this autumn, as part of the government’s Youth Guarantee trailblazers scheme with the support of the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA). It is being led and hosted by Peterborough United Foundation, in partnership with CKH, JobCentre Plus, the Department of Work and Pensions and CPCA, and will be a collaborative venture, pooling the strengths, experience and resources of all the involved organisations. It will bring together services under one roof – from careers advice and skills training to mental health support and job-matching for people aged 16-24.
Our Community Trainer and Adviser, Dean Watson, has been appointed to lead on the creation and establishment of the hub, thanks to our extensive experience of providing support to people in our communities, including employment support to young people, as part of our Community Investment strategy.
We have three community hubs from which we delivers support for local people, including our Careers Club and support in helping people break down barriers to work. We also have a wide network of partner organisations that we work closely with to deliver specialised support and so we are well placed to lead on the Hubs development, launch and ongoing delivery.
Our Chief Executive, Claire Higgins, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting the creation of this hub. We know that young people are really struggling right now, still feeling the effects that covid had on their formative years and dealing with a struggling economy. This hub will empower them and equip them with the skills they need to enter a competitive jobs market and support them in a holistic way to reach their full potential.
“Our experience in delivering support across the city to a wide range of young people has given us a wealth of experience to draw from. We also have a wide network of partner organisations to work with and we know that together we can provide young people with the support they need to flourish. We are very much looking forward to making this vision become a reality.”
Gill Wignall, CEO, Peterborough United Foundation, said: “We are delighted to have Dean Watson and CKH on board to lead the creation of the hub. Their experience, great connections with local employers and other support providers will give the hub a great start. We are looking forward to providing young people with the training, opportunities and support they need to build a bright future for themselves and, in turn, our city.”
