Happy birthday Westwood!
The Westwood community in Peterborough celebrates its 60th birthday this year - the first residents started to move in back in 1966 - and it was fabulous to welcome some of those first residents to a street party to celebrate this vibrant neighbourhood.
A display of the history of the area was up in the WestRaven Café and it certainly generated lots of reminiscing and chatter.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the organising the street party and history display. An especially big thank you to Colonel Mark Knight MBE DL, the Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, who opened the event with a lovely speech and met all the organisers and stall holders.
It was lovely to meet some of the first residents of Westwood who moved in while the area was still being built, who have raised their families here and are proud to still call Westwood home.
When Sylvia moved in there were only around 30 houses built and she has watched the whole area grow and change through the years.

When Pauline moved to Westwood from Norfolk in June 1968 it snowed! There were no shops in the area, but the bus fare to town was only 3p.

It really was a great day of friendship and memories - here's to the next 60 years of this great community!
