New homes provided in Orton Longueville
Together with our development partner, Seagate Homes, we have built four new affordable homes in Orton Longueville thanks to grant funding of £300,000 from Homes England.
To celebrate the completion of this site, resident Louise Jonker who recently moved into one of the new 2-bedroom homes with her daughter had a bouquet of flowers presented to her by CKH's Senior Development Manager, Jack Bass along with Seagate Homes' Technical Director, Lee Russell and Contracts Manager, Luke Forsyth. Also present was Homes England Manager - Affordable Housing Delivery, James Hick as well as Jonathan King, Associate Quantity Surveyor at Drees & Sommer.
Louise said: “I've always wanted to own a house but have been priced out of the market. At my age (55), I thought I would never have the opportunity to get onto the housing ladder. Shared Ownership has allowed me to finally fulfil my dream of having a forever home, and I am so happy to finally be in this fortunate position, not only for me but for my family too.”
CKH's Chief Executive, Claire Higgins, added: “We are committed to building new affordable homes across the city to help provide the much-needed local housing provision that is required and are delighted to have redeveloped this small site from an outdated building into four new homes.
“While small in scale, this scheme represents a significant improvement that makes best use of the space, helping to meet local needs, and is just one of the 12 new development sites that we are currently working on in our area of operation.
“We hope that Louise and her family, and all those who have moved into these new homes will be truly happy living there.”
This new development consists of 2x two-bedroom and 2x three-bedroom homes providing a mix of affordable rented and shared ownership homes.
In the last six months, CKH has completed 125 new homes, of which 66 have been within the Peterborough area and the housing association has a further 134 more new homes being built within Peterborough currently.
Seagate Homes' Managing Director, Adam Murfet, added: “This project is a great example of what can be achieved through strong collaboration and a shared vision. It has been great to work with Cross Keys Homes and Drees & Sommer on yet another fantastic development.
Homes England Manager - Affordable Housing Delivery, James Hick, added: “As the Government's housing and regeneration agency, increasing the supply of quality affordable homes remains one of our key objectives and we are committed to supporting partners to achieve their ambitions.
“It is great to see that funding from the Affordable Homes Programme has enabled this thriving place at The Crescent by Cross Keys Homes.”
