We've received £1.7m in funding for decarbonisation

We are delighted to have been awarded £1.7million through the government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

The money will enable us to ensure that all our homes reach a minimum SAP rating of band C, reducing the carbon footprint of these homes and reducing fuel costs for residents. We have invested heavily in improving the energy efficiency of properties over the last decade so that currently just 1% of our 11,000 homes fall below band C - primarily our older homes that are harder to retrofit.

We have made a commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2050 and this funding will support our strategy and environmental commitment. The bid was submitted in conjunction with our maintenance contractors, Mears Group, who will support the delivery of the work.

Our Chief Executive, Claire Higgins, said: “This is fantastic news and this funding will allow us to complete our programme to get all homes to C rating or above ahead of our target date of 2030. This is especially good news in light of increasing utility costs forcing more vulnerable people into fuel poverty, not to mention the escalating climate emergency the planet is facing. We are determined to do all we can as an organisation for the welfare of our residents and the environment.”
