Good governance

Good governance

When we talk about 'governance' we mean everything we do to make sure we know how we are performing and that our services are being delivered properly.

How we spend each £

How we spend each £

Thank you for paying your rent and service charges on time. Most CKH residents keep their rent accounts in credit by at least one payment. We use the money you pay in rent to deliver the essential services you need. We also borrow money from the bank so we can build new affordable homes in the communities where they are needed most.

Our directors' pay

Our highest paid director earned £20 for every home we manage (£18 last year) and over the year all our directors together earned £103 for every home we manage (£109 last year).

Managing your data

We take the security of your data very seriously. We have strong safeguards in place to protect your information and will act quickly and responsibly to address any potential security concerns. During the year, we didn't have to report any cases to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), but we identified 18 breaches we have put right and 12 near misses where no data was lost. We responded to 51 Subject Access Requests from residents.

Evictions

Eviction is always a last resort. Our aim is to help sustain tenancies and avoid eviction wherever we can but on the rare occasion where some residents refuse to work with us, we are left with no option but to seek possession back. During 2025-26, we evicted 25 residents due to anti-social behaviour and 17 for rent arrears.

New rules about information

From October 2026, the government has introduced new Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs). These requirements say that all housing associations must make information about how we manage our social homes available to all our residents.

We already share a lot of the information with you through things like this report, our website, and our regular emails. Publishing this information does not replace any of our customer service options and you can always talk to us about anything you need to know about your rights, responsibilities, or how we can help you.

You can find a list of everything we have published on our STAIRS - Publication library page.

From next April, you will have a new right to request information related to how we manage our social housing and related services. We'll let you know more about the request scheme closer to the time.
