CKH wins prestigious RICs award
We have been crowned winners of a prestigious RICS award for our city-centre Indigo development.
Our 315-home development came away with the East of England 'Residential Development' award 2026 on Friday (10 July) demonstrating the innovation, commitment and dedication that went into bringing this project to life.
Built over nine storeys and taking advantage of cathedral views and a convenient central location, Indigo is the largest development we have delivered to date. Working with development contractor, Willmott Dixon, and property consultants, Drees & Sommer UK, we completed this project which has a strong focus on sustainable construction and living 18 months ago.
The development was commended by RICs for its use of modern construction techniques, such as light gauge steel framing and off-site manufacturing, which saw construction times reduced by an estimated 20 to 30 percent compared to traditional methods. The quality of these methods has also helped to benefit Indigo's residents, helping to reduce energy bills thanks to the high environmental performance of the homes.
Our Chief Executive, Claire Higgins, said: “We are thrilled to have won this award. We were up against some stiff competition so to come away with the win, is excellent news!
“Indigo was a mammoth two-and-a-half-year project which required a huge team effort with many teams from across the business working together to help complete the properties along with Willmott Dixon, and Drees & Sommer UK. It is therefore extremely rewarding to see that our homes at Indigo have not only proven to be popular with the people who need them but have also been recognised as a great example of an effective, environmentally sustainable modern development.”
Drees & Sommer UK Divisional Director, Stuart Carter, added: “We are delighted to see Indigo recognised with a RICS Residential Development Award. It has been a privilege to support Cross Keys Homes in delivering this landmark development, and the award reflects the commitment, collaboration and innovation shown by everyone involved in creating high-quality, affordable homes for Peterborough."
Willmott Dixon's Director, Dan Doyle, said: “Indigo is a brilliant example of how strong collaboration, innovative construction methods, and a shared commitment to sustainability can deliver high-quality, affordable homes that make a lasting difference to communities.
“We're proud to have worked alongside Cross Keys Homes and Drees & Sommer UK to bring this landmark development to life and are delighted to see the project receive the recognition it deserves.”
Indigo offers affordable rented homes to people with a household income of less than £92,000 a year and with a local connection to Peterborough, through work or family. The development offers 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and duplexes, as well as 37 townhouses at sub-market rent charges - set at 80% of private rent levels with no service charges or hidden costs involved. All available properties are being marketed through Squire Property Management.
Indigo will now go on to represent the Eastern region at the RICS UK Grand Final, which will be held on Thursday 22 October 2026.
