Residents come together to enjoy D Day celebrations

The Acres retirement housing scheme recently hosted a special D-Day celebration event to mark the 81st anniversary of this historic occasion.
It was a memorable day as residents and members of the local community came together to honour and remember the heroes of the past.
The event included a gift stall, tombola, burger stand, and ice cream van. A Ukulele band played nostalgic wartime tunes, with many residents singing along. Residents also enjoyed a moving performance by a bagpipe player, whose tunes echoed in tribute to the heroes of the past.
Thanks to the generous support of National Gas, residents enjoyed a delicious buffet, and goody bags were delivered to those who couldn’t be there in person.
As you can see from the photos, it was a day filled with joy, remembrance, and a strong sense of community – a special day for all those involved.
