Creating opportunities 

As a CKH customer you can benefit from a wide range of support and activities. Throughout the year we aim to offer a range of services to support individuals as well as events that help to bring people together. We focus on three key areas that we believe make the biggest difference in our communities:

  • education and employment
  • health and wellbeing
  • investing in young people.

In 2019/20:

306 people attended our training courses
68 people supported into work
1,820 children taught about fly-tipping at 9 different schools
  • 123 people attended work clubs
  • 1,905 1:1 support sessions
  • 369 hours of counselling through our partnership with Insight Healthcare
  • 80 secondary school students took part in the Tall Ship Youth Trust programme
  • 975 people attended community events
  • 60 young people supported into employment, education or training
  • 339 referrals to CKH Money Adviser
  • 1 new Birth and Beyond project in Wisbech
  • Created specialist supported accommodation for 2 young people leaving care

Our Care and LifeLine services are also helping people to live independently in their own homes. Throughout the year, we supported more than 14,000 customers through our 24/7 LifeLine personal alarms, while one of our great extra care communities, Kingfisher Court, won the ‘Housing with Care’ award at the Great British Care Awards, Eastern Region. Both Kingfisher Court and our Care service were rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission.

What’s next for the support we offer you?

We know the year ahead is going to have lots of unexpected challenges as the UK continues to follow government advice around Covid-19. Due to social-distancing measures, we probably won’t be able to invite as many of you to attend community events or speak to us for face-to-face support. Instead, we’ll be focussing on developing new ways to support you remotely, online and over the phone, so that you can still get the help and advice you need.

We have a growing number of homes across more than five counties, so it’s important to us that your access to our services isn’t restricted by where you live.
